RFQ Checklist

PDU RFQ Checklist

Everything a supplier needs to quote a rack PDU correctly: rack count, voltage, phase, plug type, C13/C19 outlet quantities, metered or switched, certification, and destination country. Use this server rack PDU specification checklist to send a complete PDU RFQ in one pass and get a quote on accessories lines within 24–48 hours.

Why a Complete RFQ Matters

A rack PDU is configured, not picked off a shelf. Input voltage, phase, plug type, and the C13/C19 outlet mix all change the build and the price. When any of these are missing, the quote turns into a week of back-and-forth emails.

  • Voltage, phase, and plug type decide which PDU families are even applicable — a 208V three-phase unit and a 230V single-phase unit are different products.
  • C13 and C19 outlet quantities per PDU drive the chassis length, breaker layout, and unit cost.
  • Basic, metered, and switched PDUs can differ several times in price — stating which one you need avoids quoting the wrong tier.
  • Destination country determines the input plug standard and the certification documents you should ask for.
  • A complete PDU RFQ from this checklist is typically quoted within 24–48 hours; an incomplete one is not.

Required Technical Information

These are the fields a supplier cannot guess. They match the PDU RFQ form on this site — if you can fill every badge below, your RFQ is quotable on the first pass.

Optional Information That Improves Quote Accuracy

Not strictly required, but each item below removes an assumption from the quote — tighter assumptions mean a firmer price, MOQ, and lead time.

Common Missing Details

These are the gaps we see most often in PDU RFQs from overseas buyers. Each one stalls a quote until it is clarified.

  • Plug type written as "standard plug" with no country — input plugs are country-specific, so the destination country must be stated.
  • Outlet count given as a total ("40 outlets") without the C13/C19 split.
  • Voltage that does not match the destination country grid — for example 110V requested for a 230V market.
  • "Smart PDU" requested without saying whether that means metered input, metered outlets, or switched outlets.
  • Mounting orientation missing, so 0U vertical strips are quoted for a rack that only has horizontal space.
  • Certification needs (CE / UL / RoHS) raised after the quote instead of inside the RFQ.

Example RFQ Format

A complete PDU RFQ can be five lines. Use this structure in the form message or in your attached spec sheet.

  1. 1Project: 12 racks for a GPU server room in Texas, USA; about 14 kW per rack.
  2. 2PDU spec: 0U vertical, 208V three-phase 30A input, IEC 60309 plug, 3 m input cord.
  3. 3Outlets: 36 × C13 and 6 × C19 per PDU, switched, with per-outlet metering.
  4. 4Quantity and compliance: 24 units (2 per rack), UL-listed components, CE and RoHS documents with shipment.
  5. 5Logistics: deliver to Houston, target lead time 4 weeks — attach panel drawings or rack photos if you have them.
